Bio

Onosai is a 4th-year student majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minoring in Neuroscience. After graduating, he plans to attend medical school to further his goal in assisting others, tackling health-related issues that afflict underprivileged communities, especially those of which affect the Pacific Islander community. Onosai works as an undergraduate researcher in the Cody Ross Pitts’ (CRP) laboratory and he is also the Chief of Treasury of the Pacific Islander Student Association (PISA) at UC Davis.

As a first-generation student, he looks to provide easier access to higher education for Pacific Islanders. He is also focused on facilitating a smooth college transition for Pacific Islander students through pushing for university resource awareness and by fostering a local sense of community. Onosai strives to attain equitable opportunities at success for Pacific Islanders and others of underrepresented communities in higher education.

Lastly, a Sāmoan proverb that resonates with him is - O le ala i le pule o le tautua - the road to leadership is through service. With this in mind, Onosai is dedicated to utilizing his position in the Retention Initiative to serve his fellow peers.
