A Talk with Dr. Alika Bourgette: Splintering Paddles and Homes, Native Hawaiian Anti-eviction movement on the Honolulu Waterfront. 

This presentation explores Native Hawaiian anti-colonial actions, focusing on how Squattersville residents in the 1910s and 1920s created refuge through collective fishing and farming despite eviction threats from U.S. authorities.

It highlights how Native Hawaiian resistance to displacement preserved ancestral lands and waters, challenging colonial narratives of Squattersville as dangerous and lawless.
