Programming and Community Activities

Connectedness is a priority for the retention initiative and there are several ways our scholars construct their networks of care, mentorship, and professionalism. From academics to wellness, we hope to build community with you during your time at UC Davis.

AandPI Alumni Series and Boba Mixers

Students and scholars are invited to meet with alumni to discuss their experience post-graduation. This quarterly professional development and networking event is a way for alumni across industry to speak on the intersections of their professional work, their educational journey, and identities as Asian and Pacific Islander people. This series is co-hosted by the Internship and Career Center and the Cross Cultural Center, and includes a moderated Q&A session with our invited alumni.

AandPI Community Care Events

In collaboration with Community Advising Network counselors, the community care events center wellness and encourage mindfulness, meditation, stress-relief, and reflection activities with fellow students. These events are held quarterly in-person and virtually.

PISA Talanoas

The Pacific Islander Student Association (PISA) is the inaugural student-led and student-run organization for SAandPIRI. PISA advocates for the needs of Pasifika students, fosters a sense of community with fellow Pasifika-identified students, and establishes affinity on-campus for the Pasifika diaspora. Talanoas (a process of inclusive, participatory and transparent dialogue) are held bi-weekly. For more information, contact the PISA chiefdom at pisaatucdavis@gmail.com

Study Halls

SAandPIRI hosts study halls in the Student Community Center throughout the academic year. Students and scholars at any level pursuing any program are study are invited to study together, pick up free study materials, and enjoy snacks. SAandPIRI also co-hosts study halls with student organizations and campus departments. If you are interested in co-hosting a study hall, please contact our team at  apiretention@ucdavis.edu.
