Schedule an appointment to discuss academic, personal, and professional interests during your time at UC Davis. After your visit, be sure to confirm major requirements and general education requirements by the associated department and college. Advising with SAandPIRI

The Strategic Asian and Pacific Islander Retention Initiative (SAandPIRI) team provide advising support, including academic advising. Appointments are available to discuss co-curricular and academic opportunities, as well as the multitude of ways to connect and engage during your time at the university. Students and scholars are encouraged to schedule virtual or in-person appointments with Kat Parpana, Director, or Chris Pangelina, Associate Director. 

College Academic Advising 

SAandPIRI partners with the four undergraduate colleges to provide academic advising sessions and schedule appointments with their students. Currently, we partner with the College of Letters and Science Dean's Office to provide drop-in advising in spring quarter on Wednesdays, while offering referrals to all other undergraduate dean's offices. Students are able to meet with the SAandPIRI advising team in partnership with their associated major and college advisors for academic planning and questions regarding major requirements and general education requirements. 

International Student Advising 

Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) provides advising support regarding changing degree level, curricular practical training (CPT), academic difficulty, minimum progress and progress towards degree, F-1 OPT/STEM questions, J-1 academic training (AT), J-2 work authorization, and planned educational leaves of absence (PELP). To meet with your assigned SISS advisor, visit their website and schedule a virtual advising appointment or in-person paperwork drop-off. 

Residential Academics 

The AandPI Aggies (AandPI-A) Living-Learning Community is supported by a Living-Learning Community Peer Mentor who provides holistic one-on-one academic mentorship and culturally responsive programming during your first year. Members of the AandPI-A LLC are encouraged to schedule appointments with their Peer Mentor about the following and beyond:

  • adjusting to the quarter system
  • help registering for classes
  • learning time management skills

Residential students who do not live in the AandPI-A LLC can find their Peer Mentor by building or through the photo roster. All students – both residential and those living off-campus – can study or utilize AATC tutoring in the Cuarto, Segundo, and Tercero Residential Academic Centers.
